Meet the Maker!

Hi Everyone!

I am the woman behind Mary Made That!   As a young child, my grandma taught me how to knit while we watched cooking shows and game shows.  Julia Child taught me how to cook, but my grandma taught me how to knit and purl!  20 years later, it is still my favorite hobby and I am excited to see where it takes me.

Over the years, I learned so many different techniques, tips and tricks.  I have been told by friends and family that I should share my skills and sell my creations on Etsy, but selling finished objects was never something I felt like keeping up with.  If I was constantly knitting things for other people, I wouldn't have time for me!  In 2020, I discovered how big and wonderful the Instagram knitting and crafting community was!  I realized that I should finally take pictures and post my knits regularly.  Once I participated in my first test knit with another knit designer, I realized: Hey, I could do that too!  So instead of selling knitted objects, I was encouraged to design my own knitting patterns.  Knit design has been a fun creative outlet for my knitting ideas, so I can't wait to share them all with you!

When I'm not knitting, I'm usually traveling the world!  I have been working in the Educational Travel Industry and it has been an absolutely amazing experience--except when the pandemic hit!  It's been a tough time, but my team at work is resilient and we are all patiently waiting for travel to go back to normal.  Typically, I am bouncing around from place to place, but lately I've been home doing a lot of knitting, so there was no better time to start Mary Made That!  With transitioning to the work from home world, dedicating time to knitting was part of my every day life.  I am looking forward to designing and sharing my own knitting patterns, which has already been a fun and motivating part of my daily life.  I have met and connected with so many wonderful, intelligent and talented people since joining the testing and designing world!  I can't wait to get back out to travel little by little and naturally, bring my new knits along too!  See you all out there!

Happy Knitting!
